mokulito test plate number two

'Girl in red hat' As with the others, I sanded the plate but this time no milk.  Cut some parts away to retain the white of the paper. Mixed 5 drops of nitric with gum, coated the plate, let dry and applied another coat. Three weeks later I managed to print 15 images, some Black and White, with others added chine collie, others will be hand coloured when dry. They printed up ok, nice plate tone with lots of wood lines. After printing I rolled up the plate in ink, let dry off a little, a day in fact coated with just gum and left to dry for about a week, not necessary really 24 hours would have been ok. The plate printed up as before with no problems, in fact its hard to see the difference except for the lose of fine details,  I will rework  the next image and add more drawing over the ink to see if I can reintroduce the finer tones. ok back to work.  quick life drawing  drawing on plate  blue transfer paper   working the plate

Norma with red Bird The latest work using plywood, the work printed up well, I  used chine collie on some of the images, other will be hand coloured. The plate was covered in gum for a long time, four weeks, with no ill effects. Using the transfer blue paper, the image was first drawn from a a life model, photograph and reworked using computer software. The image was then printed directly onto the blue litho transfer paper with a large format printer. Then the  image is placed on the plywood and run through the etching press, firm pressure to transfer the image to the plate I could have  worked on the blue paper with litho pencils and crayons and ink,  then when finished simply transfer to the plate, coat with gum and leave for a few days, but I like to draw directly on the plywood as I enjoy the process, also love to cut out areas to produce pure white. This time, when finished with the printing I rolled up in ink and recoated with gum only, idea being I can print up the im
