Trip to Paris Blog Two.
Our trip to Paris started well, flying Business class was as expected reasonable and comfortable, the first leg of with Qantas to Hong Kong we were enjoyed the service, the food was just ok. The second leg with Air France was ok, the food was great but the service was lacking, nine hours between drinks.
Arrived in Paris, tired but happy, the taxi driver seeing the easy prey took advantage of our lack of local knowledge and give a tour de France at great expense. We arrived at our pre booked accommodation with great reservation, but it looked great, located in the Latin Quarter, the small Hotel De Buci, is situated among restaurants and small galleries. As it is summer in France, the sun is still high in the sky at 10pm, everywhere people are eating, drinking, talking and just watching as others walk by. Peter and I are enjoying eating and drinking until late. The food is great, so many places to eat, at our doorstep we are going to try them all. Have included some photos of our first day.

    bon jour Catherine ... nine hours between drinks during a flight what torture but seems that has been well made up for out in the cafes of Paris.

    bon jour again Catherine and Peter .. you must be away from Paris now and exploring the French countryside ..oh how wonderful!! Bet you feel a little twinge when you open your blog and see Mac and Billie over there staring back at you ... Billie will seem not naughty at all from such a distance.
    I will go with Jen to the mansion next week to collect some work for woodgate arts in winter. Got an email from the artspace in Maryborough .. re our proposal and dates ... I will play with the proposal but wait for your return as you are much more accomplished in that area and they are not bothered at all about when it's done as long as our dates are confirmed. Re out dates I fudged a little more time, Christines show will stay a few weeks longer and we set up 1st of Nov and open when it pleases us, all very amicable .. anyway enough of that you continue to have the most wonderfull time .. food art wine history yes !... isnt the colour and texture of well aged walls and snipets of lace behind windows so beautiful, not to mention the array of goodies in the delis and cake shops, I remember quiet a few picnics in parks after choosing from the delightful array behind thier counters ... those little custard tarts come to mind and my mouth begins to water now mm ... cheers Sue

 Nine months, have passed since my darling husband had a stroke, I thought my world and his would dissolve into endless hours at the hospital, dreading each passing day not knowing if he would survive, walk, or  talk again. We have returned to a life, different, difficult and at times heartbreaking, each day presents a new problem, sometimes I win sometimes I lose. The progress is slow, walking is tiring for him, talking is mumbled words, frustration on his part, he knows what he wants to say but can’t.  As time passes we will make the best of each day, good or bad, the absence of friends is noted, only a few stay in touch now? It’s uneasy for others to understand that he is still the same man....needs friends..... Big Kate..my Albion printing press has gone, no doubt the first of many things to leave us, sad but necessary.

Ideas for first day France

France, my first week in Paris will be just as I imagine, romantic, breathtaking , timeless, ancient and modern. Summer, the French holiday season will be bursting with activities and I will be there to see, explore, experience and enjoy. First things first, arriving in mid July, the first day I will take in a river view of Paris; situated along the river Seine is every building of note in Paris. A boat trip will introduce the cultural and historical aspects of Paris and give me a chance to get over the long flight. Above all, it is the art and culture that has my attention, this viewpoint may differ with time spent in Paris. A Book for Christine Turner

Christine Turner has been a breath of fresh air in the arts in Bundaberg Queensland.  For many years   she has worked in the area of painting, recycled assemblage, installations, computer art and animation, she has inspired so many young artists to take up art. Chris has been a focal point in the arts not just as an artist but  also as  a gallery manager, curator and community arts worker. With the establishment of Dirty Linen an independent gallery space, Christine provided a suitable venue for young and emerging artists and without restrictions she provide a platform, for artists, poets and musician.  Sadly Christine is moving to Brisbane so with the closure of Dirty Linen, Bundaberg has lost an alternative art space but hopefully Christine will continue her arts practice well into the future. The artist books featured, is a collaboration by Beryl Kitching, Sue Hutton and myself and was presented to Christine as a gift.
