Fisher wife's tale 2019 etching. A set of six distinct etchings was created for this series. Regrettably, the unfinished plates were damaged during transit. However, I had produced a state print of three of the six etchings, which I utilised to recreate the new plates.

Artist book

Image
2019 artist hanging book, using metal advertisement printing blocks, hand printed onto Japanese paper. In the era of advertising, metal plates were employed to promote brands or clothing styles, particularly designed to be positioned alongside text in newspaper advertisements. These hot metal plates, once prevalent, have been replaced by polymer plates. These discarded objects hold a fascination for me, and I collect them whenever possible. The intention is to reinvent and repurpose them, as exemplified by the ‘male sampler’ handprinted on Japanese paper, paying homage to both the past and present printmaking industry.

North by North West

North by Northwest 2019 North by Northwest Amidst the precipice of environmental transformation, Australia has witnessed a surge of public protests regarding the extraction of new and existing coal and natural gas resources. This movement has garnered significant attention, particularly from a new generation of young people who have vociferously expressed their concerns. “North by Northwest” is a series of artworks that draw inspiration from my experience as an artist in residence at a remote gas plant. During my tenure, I was granted the freedom to explore the surrounding landscape. My primary focus was on the visual degradation of the environment and the preservation of artefacts destined for return to their original location upon the plant’s decommissioning. These artefacts, stored in plastic bags on wooden pallets, persisted long after the plant’s closure.
