The Niederhorn
Wednesday 28-7-10
Today we went by cable car up to the Niederhorn, nowhere is the scenery above LakeThun, with the mountains (Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau ) more enjoyable.
Next was a bus trip from our accommodation through to Inverlarken to do some shopping, (as if we haven’t done enough ) along very narrow lakeside roads barely enough room for one car at a time yet it was two way traffic. We both bought Swizz watches and some local souvenirs.
Thursday 29-7-10
Left Inverlarken and selected dynamic route on the GPS and we set off, well dynamic we got travelling along narrow mountain roads until we got to a railway siding where we had to pay 20 swizz francs to put the car on a train to travel through a 16 KM tunnel in the car on the train. After getting off the train, we travelled higher into the Alps where there was snow all around then going through a narrow mountain pass into Italy there the scenery changed as we drove thru small towns and villages until finally reaching Lake Como a spectacular place. Booked into Como Crown Hotel which was overpriced and not in a very good location.
