Artist Books


After months of collaborating with writer and artist Sue Hutton, we are pleased to announce the completion of six of the images. Sue has also provided short stories for each image. Our ultimate goal is to create seven works combining text and images, which we intend to self-publish as an artist book.


It is crucial to clarify that this is not a book bound in a particular style or created from altered materials. Many individuals, including art prize organisers, lack a comprehensive understanding of what an artist book is. Some mistakenly associate it with bookbinding, altered books, or photo books.


Our artist book will feature original images and text specifically designed for the purpose of creating and printing a book made by artists. We encourage readers to distinguish between an artist book and other types of books, as this distinction is essential for appreciating the unique characteristics of this genre.

Edition:  Photographer: Catherine Mc Cue Boes References:  3.0 number 12 Artist Books 2013 This wonderful sculptural and structured artist book tells the story of Agatha Christie who went missing in 1926.  Agatha disappeared for 11 days, but was eventually located at a spa hotel in Harrogate under an assumed name. The reason behind her disappearance has remained a mystery; some say after a dispute with her husband over another woman she suffered amnesia caused by stress or in part due to her mother death. Whatever the real story is we may never know, but makes for a great mystery. A beautiful book.

New work, Saint Catherine the fish keeper.

Saint Catherine, the Fish Keeper  Catherine is not a saint; she is the caretaker of fish that demand significant attention and resources. She desires to release them, but she keeps them for someone she loves, and their departure would cause them distress. Nevertheless, if she were able to capture and release them, her own life would also be liberated. Linocut, gold leaf, chine colle  40x37 cm edition 10   The idea for this work wasn’t difficult; anyone who knows me well will understand the irony in it.

The sand melts into the blue/green of the Australian bush, topped by clear blue sky. On opening the book, a pop out portrait of a young child sits comfortable on the sand, a cut out shadow hints at the intensity of the summer sun, a stitched and drawn line takes us to another pop out of a sewing machine, in bold red, blue and yellow, indicating an interested in the making of things.  Whimsic...
